Yesterday, we had our first designer meeting!!! It was so incredible and enlightening to talk to the team about the play for the first time intellectually and in broad strokes!
After introducing ourselves, we realized we were all filling our respective roles for the first time and that we are all eager but nervous about this process, but I think that we’ve created a great foundation to start with by discussing our thoughts on the play and our goals as a group of collaborators. We talked about having a cohesive vision as a group and honoring the guidelines set in place for Studio without shying away from using technical elements to tell the story. We also discussed our tone goals and how we want the audience to feel after engaging with our production. We stumped ourselves over whether this is production is hopeful or hopeless. I hope this generated a lot of thought for our next meeting, and that we have a lot of discuss next week as they start to bring in their ideas and designs!! I’m very much looking forward to what we come up with as a group.
