We did our first stumble through tonight! It was quite a stumble, but I was very impressed with the actors’ ability to put it all together. Seeing it all laid out gave me some perspective on where to go from here! I need to put more focus on encouraging them to find in the moment discoveries and break those pre-determined line readings. There were also a couple moments that I severely overcomplicated in the original staging of them, so we went back and made it much more streamlined and justifiable. Tomorrow, we have our designer run, and I’m very nervous for our first audience, but I’m really happy we got a run under our belts before then even if it means they’re just a little more prepared.
