Today we focused on working pages 22-44. I had a lofty goal in mind of reaching page 60, but I realized soon into rehearsal it was more productive for us to go in depth with each moment so that everything felt justified. With the designer run approaching, I feel the need to cover everything before Tuesday so the actors feel comfortable enough with the material to make it through a full run and give the designers valuable information about their needs. However, I know that the designer run is just a benchmark and that they will have enough takeaways to fit their needs. I’m really excited about going in-depth to explore wants, destinations, activities, and beats. We’ve covered a lot of ground and made tons of progress ironing out details. We also explored how some wants and some moments are influenced by character and I gave them valuable things to think about in terms of given circumstances. I have a lot of thinking about how we should handle tomorrow’s rehearsal, and I think the actors have valuable insight into our proceedings.
